Terms of service
These terms govern the BackNineLive league scoring service and this website. Last updated March 2, 2026.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By opening a BackNineLive account, entering a scorecard, publishing standings or paying a subscription invoice, you accept these terms on behalf of yourself and the league or course you represent. If you are agreeing for a golf club, a municipal parks department or a management company, you confirm you are authorized to bind it. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service. Continued use after a change to these terms means you accept the version published on this page.
2. What the service does
BackNineLive is a web application for running weekly golf leagues. It records nine and eighteen hole scorecards entered by players or by pro shop staff, converts each Handicap Index into a course handicap for the tees played, applies the playing handicap allowance for the chosen format and the net double bogey cap, ranks players and teams into flights, calculates skins, carryovers, closest to the pin and longest drive results, publishes weekly standings to a league page and by email, and keeps a season archive that can be exported.
BackNineLive is a scoring and administration tool. It is not a handicap authority. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by the United States Golf Association, the R and A or any state or regional golf association. Where a league is required to post scores to an official handicap system, the league remains responsible for that posting, and BackNineLive supplies an export to make it practical.
3. Accounts and eligibility
An account is opened for a named league or course by an adult with authority to act for it. You are responsible for the accuracy of your roster, for keeping account credentials confidential, and for everything done under your logins, including entries made by a captain or a counter attendant. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been used without permission. Player accounts created for score entry are junior in scope: they can post a card and see standings, and they cannot change league rules or billing.
4. Acceptable use
Use the service to run legitimate golf competitions. You may not enter false scores to affect a handicap or a payout, upload personal data about players without a lawful basis, use the service to run gambling operations that break the law where you play, attempt to breach or probe the security of the platform, scrape the public league pages of other courses, resell access without a written agreement, or upload material that infringes another party's rights. We may suspend an account that is being used in any of those ways, and we will explain why in writing.
5. Plans, billing and price changes
Three plans are offered, all in US dollars and all billed monthly in advance: One League at $25 per month for a single weekly league of up to 96 players at one course; Course at $69 per month for unlimited leagues at one facility, including counter entry, staff accounts and the score export; and Multi Course at $149 per month for up to 8 facilities with rollup reporting and shared player records. There is no setup fee and no per player charge. Applicable sales tax or VAT is added where the law requires it.
The subscription renews automatically each month on the anniversary of the start date until cancelled. We may change plan prices with 30 days written notice to the billing contact, and a price change never applies mid month. If a payment fails, we retry it twice over 10 days and email the billing contact before any suspension, because losing a league night to a declined card helps nobody.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from the league settings, without contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month, and the service stays fully available until then. Northern leagues that pause for winter can suspend billing and resume in spring with the roster, the handicap history and the season archive intact. After cancellation, the account keeps read and export access for 90 days, after which the data is deleted on request or retained under the schedule in the privacy policy.
7. Who owns the league data
Your league owns its rosters, scorecards, handicap history, standings, pot records and every file you upload. We claim no ownership of it and we do not sell it, license it to equipment brands or tee time resellers, or use it to build a public handicap database. We process it only to run the service you pay for, to provide support when you ask, and to produce anonymous aggregate statistics that never identify a player, a league or a course. Export to CSV or PDF is available for the whole season at any time, including after cancellation.
8. Availability and support
We aim for 99.9 percent monthly availability, measured outside announced maintenance. Maintenance is scheduled on Sunday and Monday and is not performed between four and ten in the evening local time during the April to October league season. Support is answered by email on business days, and Course and Multi Course customers also have phone support Monday through Saturday. If a defect in the handicap calculation affects a published result, we correct the calculation, republish the standings and tell every affected league in writing.
9. Warranty disclaimer
The service is provided as it stands and as available. Beyond what these terms promise, we make no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non infringement, and we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or free of every error. You remain responsible for verifying that the format, the allowances and the tie break rules configured for your league match the rules your league voted in.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including disputed prize money, lost dues, reputational harm within a club, or the cost of rerunning a competition. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify MLJ, SASU against third party claims arising from your unlawful use of the service, from data you upload without the right to do so, or from a competition you run using the service in breach of these terms or of applicable law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect new features, new plans or changes in the law. Material changes are announced to account owners by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page is updated. If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it takes effect and nothing further is owed.
13. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by French law, and any dispute that cannot be settled between us falls to the competent courts of Paris, France, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your own jurisdiction. The service is published by MLJ, SASU, whose full registration details appear on the legal notice. Questions about this agreement go to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com, and they are answered by the publication director rather than by a ticket queue.
