Your data, in plain language

Privacy policy

This policy covers backninelive.com, the marketing site for the BackNineLive league scoring service. Last updated March 2, 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

BackNineLive is published by MLJ, SASU, a French company registered under SIREN 934 769 837, with Jimenez Julien as publication director and the person who actually reads the mail. For anything on this page, write to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com. Full company and hosting details are on the legal notice.

This policy describes the public website only. If your league runs a live season inside the BackNineLive application, the handling of player rosters, scores and handicap records is governed by the agreement your course or league signs, and by the terms of service.

What the contact form collects

The one place this website collects personal data is the demo request form on the home page. It sends exactly these fields, and nothing else:

  • name: your full name, so a reply can be addressed to a person.
  • email: your work email address, which is where the answer goes.
  • company: the course or league name, so we can look at the right kind of operation.
  • role: your role, for example League Secretary or Head Golf Professional.
  • request: whether you want a demo, early access or a quote.
  • size: the number of leagues or players you run, which decides the plan that fits.
  • message: what you write about your league night.
  • consent: the checkbox recording that you agreed to be contacted.

Three hidden fields travel with the form for routing purposes: form-name, subject and recipient. A fourth hidden field, bot-field, is a spam trap that stays empty for human visitors. The form does not ask for a phone number, a mailing address, payment details, player rosters or handicap records, and you should not paste any of those into the message box.

Why we process it, and on what legal basis

The purpose is narrow: to answer your question, show you the product on a league like yours, and quote a price. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the legal basis is your consent, given by ticking the consent box, together with our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry we did not solicit. Under United States state privacy laws, this counts as processing at your own request for a service you asked about. We do not use what you send for profiling, we do not build advertising audiences from it, and we never sell or share it for cross context behavioral advertising.

Who processes the data with us

The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. Netlify Forms receives the submission, stores it in the site dashboard and forwards a copy by email. Netlify therefore acts as a processor for form content and standard server logs, which include an IP address and a user agent string for security and abuse prevention. The email that reaches us is read in a mailbox operated by Google. No other processor touches the data, and no third party receives it for its own purposes.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no advertising trackers, and uses no third party analytics scripts. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Two web fonts, Petrona and Overpass, are requested from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com and those servers see your IP address as part of delivering the font files. No account, cookie or identifier is created by that request.

How long submissions are kept

Form submissions are kept for 24 months from the date they arrive, then deleted from the Netlify dashboard and from the mailbox. If you become a customer, the enquiry is retained for the life of the account and for 3 years after it closes, because it forms part of the commercial record. If you ask us to delete a submission sooner, we do it within 30 days and confirm in writing. Server logs held by the host are retained on the host's own schedule, which is measured in days rather than months.

Your rights in the United States

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia have the right to know what personal data we hold, to obtain a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it. We do not sell or share personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the request will be honored and confirmed all the same. California residents may also designate an authorized agent to act for them, and are entitled not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you a demo, change a price or degrade support because you asked us to delete an enquiry.

Your rights in the European Union and the United Kingdom

If you are in the EU or the UK, you hold the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already took place. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because the publisher is established in France, the competent authority is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertes, though you may complain to the authority in your own country of residence.

How to exercise your rights

Send one email to jimenezjulien42@gmail.com with the address you used on the form and what you want done. There is no form to complete and no account to create. We answer within 30 days, usually within two business days, and we may ask one question to confirm you are the person who sent the original message. The request is free of charge.

International transfers

The publisher is in France and the host is in the United States, so a form submission from a US league crosses no border on the way to Netlify, while the email copy reaches an operator based in the EU. Transfers between the EU and the United States rely on the European Commission adequacy decision covering certified US recipients and, where that does not apply, on the Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children's privacy

This site is aimed at league officers, golf professionals and course operators, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. Junior league play is a normal part of golf, and where a course runs a junior division inside the application, the player records are entered by the course under its own agreement with the parents, not through this website. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through this form, write to us and it will be deleted within 5 business days.

Security and changes to this policy

Pages and form submissions travel over HTTPS. Access to the submission dashboard and the mailbox is limited to the publication director and protected with two factor authentication. If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and material changes will be described on this page rather than quietly swapped in.
